Fr. Joseph S. Alobaidi, O.P.

Fr. Alobaidi's main field of teaching and writing is the Jewish interpretation of the Bible.  From 1983 to 1987 he was a research assistant at the Swiss National Fund for Scientific Research.  From 1989 to 1994, he taught Old Testament as the Assistant of Professor Adrian Schenker, OP in the biblical department of the Faculty of Theology at Fribourg, and from 1987 to 1994 he taught several related courses in the Dominican-directed St. Thomas Centre, Geneva.  From 1994 until 2003, he was engaged by the University of Fribourg as an External Collaborator, researching the sources of "Cairo Geniza."  He was in charge of the Hebrew manuscripts collection at the library of the late Dominican exegete, Fr. J.-D Barthelemy (1996-2004) and expert at the Public and University Library of Geneva (2003-2004) for biblical Hebrew manuscripts of the Cairo Geniza Collection.  He directs the series "Bible in History" published by Peter Lang.
